Part Time
Part-Time Attorneys. The Firm recognizes that an attorney, may, for personal, professional or other reasons, wish to work a part-time schedule. Recognizing that all attorneys are employees at will, the Firm will attempt to accommodate any attorney who wishes to work a part-time schedule, provided that the attorney meets certain criteria. Because the demands of individual practice areas and individual clients vary, the Firm has not established a limit on the length of time that an attorney may work a part-time schedule. Assuming that an attorney meets all other criteria for promotion, the fact that an attorney works a part-time schedule shall not preclude the attorney from being promoted within the Firm. In fact, five of our partners currently work in some fashion under a part-time schedule. Moreover, assuming that an attorney meets all other criteria for performance-based additional or bonus compensation, an attorney working a part-time schedule may participate in such bonus plans on a pro rata basis, based upon the part-time schedule agreed to by the Firm.
Part-Time and Flexible Work Schedules for Staff. To reflect the "real life" needs of our workforce, LeClairRyan offers qualifying staff employees the opportunity to work a flexible work schedule. Flexible work schedules are an alternative to the Firm's standard work schedule of 8:30am to 5:30pm. While not all requests to work a flexible work schedule are appropriate for every circumstance, LeClairRyan seeks to ensure that every staff member is able to balance the pull between professional and home-life responsibilities. In some limited circumstances, part-time positions within the Firm are also made available.
