LeClairRyan’s Summer Program is focused in our home office in Richmond, Virginia. Some summer associates are also given the opportunity to spend all or a part of the summer in one of the Firm’s other offices, depending upon the interests of the summer associate and the needs of the office.  We anticipate filling all of our first-year associate class exclusively from our summer program.

The program is designed to introduce summer associates to the Firm and to give them a realistic and meaningful view of the Firm’s practice, attorneys and culture. In an effort to offer a practical sense of what Firm life is like for junior associates, summer associates are assigned substantive legal work on matters for Firm clients. To ensure a thorough learning experience, each summer associate works closely under the supervision of experienced attorneys. Furthermore, in a further effort to foster a complete summer experience, we encourage associates to sample diverse assignments in a variety of practice areas and to work with as many attorneys as possible. Through our flexible assignment system, summer associates may request and receive assignments from any practice area. Summer associates also have the opportunity to observe our attorneys in court hearings, client meetings, depositions, conferences, closings, negotiations, and drafting sessions.

Throughout the summer, LeClairRyan schedules a variety of social events to allow summer associates to get to know the attorneys in a relaxed and casual environment and to enjoy a taste of Richmond life, and the opportunity to visit some of our other offices. Some events in the 2007 Summer Program included our annual bowling tournament, a bike tour of Charlottesville’s wine country, an adventure day at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, dinners at attorneys’ homes, and a Nationals baseball game in Washington, D.C. Interview scheduling for the 2008 Summer Program are complete.
