Biography

Mr. Hale advises management of financial institutions and other companies in developing opportunities, solutions and strategies involving finance, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, competition, insolvency, and contract negotiations.

His experience includes representing parties in debt and equity financing transactions, including syndications, multiple currencies, multiple institution debt and equity facilities, bond financing, convertible debt, and private offerings. He also represents parties in mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, and other corporate restructurings.

Mr. Hale is the leader of LeClairRyan’s Banking Industry Team and its Bank Finance and Lending Team. He served as counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, scrutinizing the impact of regulations upon the business community. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar Business Law Section, on the board of numerous charitable organizations, on the capital campaign committee for a leading regional arts and culture organization’s rehabilitation project, and as a member of a council of the leaders of the region’s largest employers.

He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Banking Law and Mergers and Acquisitions, in Virginia Business magazine as “Legal Elite” in Business Law, and in The Roanoker magazine as a leading lawyer in Business and Commercial Law.
