Ms. Brakstad focuses her practice on construction and public contracts litigation, intellectual property litigation, and complex commercial litigation, including trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes, antitrust, contract disputes, business torts, and other civil litigation matters. Ms. Brakstad regularly supervises and manages pretrial discovery and motions practice in Virginia and other jurisdictions and has represented numerous clients in matters ranging from a few thousand dollars to several million dollars.
Ms. Brakstad received her B.A. in Psychology in 2002 from the University of Virginia and her J.D. with honors in 2007 from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law where she was a Marshall Scholar and worked as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and the Public Interest. She previously interned for Hon. Dennis W. Dohnal, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division. Ms. Brakstad is currently a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Richmond Bar Association.
Ms. Brakstad is active in the pro bono legal field, representing indigent clients in family law matters. Ms. Brakstad has also represented members of the United States Army in various civil matters through the American Bar Association's Military Pro Bono program.
