Richard Savage is a partner in the Firm's Government Relations and Regulated Industries group where his practice focuses on administrative law and government relations. He comes to LeClairRyan from government practice in the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia, serving as Chief Counsel to the Attorney General under several administrations.
Mr. Savage also served as Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2002-2005. Prior to his service as Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Savage was Executive Director, under both Democratic and Republican leadership, of the Virginia State Crime Commission.
During his service for three Attorneys General and the General Assembly of Virginia, Mr. Savage personally oversaw and was instrumental in the passage of over 220 individual pieces of legislation on topics such as: telecommunications, taxation, banking, education, racketeering and organized crime, money laundering, healthcare, prescription drugs, economic development, consumer protection and transportation.
