Ms. Moffett is a partner on the firm’s Labor and Employment team and focuses her practice on providing outside general counsel to corporations and defending employment and business claims. Ms. Moffett has successfully represented employers in a wide variety of administrative and litigation proceedings, including discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, purported violations under the Family Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act, and claims of sexual harassment, race, gender, or national origin discrimination arising under Title VII and Section 1981. Ms. Moffett also has experience in conducting internal investigations, defending wrongful discharge claims, addressing breach of employment contracts and restrictive covenants, and advocating for housing associations in actions arising under the Fair Housing Act. She regularly represents employers before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Virginia, D.C. and Maryland Offices of Human Rights, and in federal and state courts in Virginia, District of Columbia and Maryland.
In addition, Ms. Moffett has represented businesses in the defense of business fraud, conspiracy, tortious interference with contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims and provided counseling regarding government contracts and whistleblower actions.
Prior to joining LeClairRyan, Ms. Moffett served as a law clerk to the Secretary of the Air Force General Counsel for Contractor Responsibility where she reviewed and analyzed commercial contracts and contractor compliance in accordance with the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations and Federal Acquisition Regulations, coordinated investigations with the Air Force Office of Special Investigation and Defense Criminal Investigative Services, and prepared suspension and debarment memoranda on behalf of the Secretary of the Air Force Deputy General Counsel for Contractor Responsibility and the Secretary of the Air Force Fraud Director.
