Biography

Mr. Clark focuses his practice on all aspects of high-stakes business litigation, including commercial and contract disputes, construction and mechanic’s lien disputes, personal injury and wrongful death prosecution and defense, commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, insurance coverage disputes, and other general civil matters. Mr. Clark also regularly handles estate and trust disputes, including matters involving competency, guardianship, and conservatorship disputes. Additionally, Mr. Clark regularly represents business and individual clients in professional liability matters in the area of financial services, including representing clients in FINRA arbitration proceedings. Mr. Clark’s practice also includes matters before various state and federal appellate courts, including his serving as lead counsel in several appeals to the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Mr. Clark is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is admitted to practice in all state courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Mr. Clark received his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond – T.C. Williams School of Law in 2000 and graduated with distinction from the Virginia Military Institute in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science (Biology) and Minors in Chemistry, Psychology, and English.

Actively involved in many civic and bar organizations within the Richmond community, Mr. Clark currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Historical Society of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Board of Trustees for Historic Richmond, and as legal counsel to the Richmond Sports Backers. Mr. Clark served as President of Historic Richmond’s Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2016. Mr. Clark was also appointed in 2010 by the Honorable William J. Howell, Speaker of the House of Delegates, to the Capitol Square Preservation Council, a citizens group charged with planning and review of projects that affect the State Capitol, its historic artifacts, other historic buildings on or adjacent to Capitol Square, and the landscape and archaeological features of Capitol Square. In 2014, Mr. Clark was elected to serve as Chairman of the Capitol Square Preservation Council and successfully concluded his service as Chairman in 2016.

Mr. Clark is also an active and engaged member of the Federal Bar Association and has served the FBA in various local and national leadership positions. Mr. Clark currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Chapter of the FBA, as a Vice President for the Fourth Circuit, and as a Member of the FBA’s Community Outreach Committee. Mr. Clark’s involvement with the FBA at a national level has also included his being selected to serve as Chairman of the FBA’s Chapter Activity Fund Committee in 2014 and on the FBA’s Nominations and Elections Committee in 2016. Mr. Clark also previously served as Chapter President of the Richmond Chapter of the FBA in 2004 – 2005 and 2010 – 2011. As a Vice President for the Federal Bar Association, Mr. Clark was invited to attend the 79th Judicial Conference of the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Clark is an avid marathon runner and cyclist, having completed ten marathons, including the SunTrust Richmond Marathon (2000 and 2007), ING New York City Marathon (2006 and 2009), the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (2004), and the Marine Corps Marathon (2001 and 2012).
