Elizabeth K. Acee serves as LeClairRyan’s President. In this capacity, she shares senior-executive level responsibilities with the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, including those involving executing the firm’s strategic plan and growth initiatives. Prior to her tenure as President, she served as the Head of the Litigation Department. 

Additionally, Ms. Acee maintains an active legal practice focusing on employment and business litigation and counselling spanning across industries ranging from entertainment and healthcare, to aviation and biotech. She has experience handling a variety of complex matters, including technology and product liability litigation, licensing and distribution issues, antitrust and unfair trade practice cases, contract disputes, restrictive covenants and all aspects of employment litigation, counseling and compliance. Ms. Acee has particular experience defending companies in business-related disputes including claims involving state-of-the art software and technology, trade secret/misappropriation claims, unfair competition claims, and business defamation claims. Though she represents clients of all sizes, many in her portfolio are Fortune 500 corporations as well as other publicly and privately held corporations, financial institutions, motion picture distributors, healthcare institutions and pharmaceutical companies, among others.

Ms. Acee is acutely in tune with her clients’ needs, and believes in taking a practical approach to resolving their legal issues. She has served as outside general counsel for clients, and spent over a year serving as interim Assistant General Counsel for labor and employment to a large Connecticut-based healthcare organization. She continues to regularly counsel hospitals, medical groups and academic institutions on all aspects of employment issues.

Ms. Acee’s comprehensive litigation experience includes federal and state court jury and bench trials. She has also represented clients in proceedings before federal and state administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the NLRB, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and state and federal departments of labors. In addition, she regularly arbitrates and mediates claims for her clients. Ms. Acee also uses her litigation skills and experience to teach an advanced trial practice course at the Yale Law School.
