Ms. Thompson is Office Leader of the firm's Roanoke office and serves as the firm's General Counsel.  An experienced litigator, Ms. Thompson has represented clients in state and federal courts involving banking, breach of contract, business disputes, computer/technology law, domestic relations, employment disputes, guardianships, real estate disputes, taxation, trusts and estates, and various collection matters.

She focuses her bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice on the interests of corporate and individual creditors and other parties-in-interest. She has advised clients in bankruptcy proceedings and contested matters concerning debtor-in-possession financing, dischargeability of debts, executory contracts and leases, jurisdiction, plan confirmation, preference actions, officers’ and directors' liability and venue challenges. In addition, she uses her years of experience handling financial disputes and asset valuation matters in resolving complex family law disputes.

Ms. Thompson is trained in the Collaborative Law, which provides a supportive environment for clients to resolve their disputes outside of court.

Ms. Thompson has lectured on matters involving bankruptcy, collection of debts, eminent domain, general counsel services, land use, law firm risk management, legal malpractice prevention, and privacy rights. During law school, she served as the Executive Editor of the University of Virginia Tax Review and received honors for both her oral advocacy and legal writing skills.
