Peter Day Joins LeClairRyan


Peter Day has joined LeClairRyan as a partner on the firm’s privacy and data security, blockchain technologies, white collar, and financial services litigation teams. He is resident in the national law firm’s San Francisco office.

Day advises clients on many privacy and data security issues, including international data management, cross-border data transfers, software and cloud service agreements, consumer marketing and advertising, financial technology, and novel payment systems.

Additionally, Day advises clients on regulatory compliance, criminal matters, and national security issues. He has defended companies and individuals during regulatory inquiries and investigations. Day has also handled matters that involved clients facing inquiries from congressional committees, the Department of Justice, the FDIC, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, numerous state attorneys general, and several foreign regulators.

Prior to joining the firm, Day served as the Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. While there, he helped develop the Fed’s privacy and information security programs.

A graduate of Occidental College (B.A.) and Indiana University (J.D.), Day is admitted in California.
