Biography

Nic Ferland’s practice includes bankruptcy, real estate, leasing, retail, finance and general corporate matters. He appears in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States in complex, high-profile cases on behalf of financial institutions, landlords and parties seeking to purchase assets. He represents landlords and tenants in commercial leases, buyers and sellers of commercial real estate and has represented parties in numerous development and redevelopment projects. Nic’s practice also includes issuing “true sale” opinions and structuring transactions to meet true sale requirements. Nic provides general corporate counsel to companies operating in Connecticut and also provides general counsel to all levels of management in the shopping center industry. Nic is regularly engaged to advise on business matters and litigation concerning all aspects of shopping center operations, such as lease defaults, common area charges, development, security, public access, environmental laws, counterfeit goods, reciprocal easement agreements, co-tenancy disputes and premises liability.
