Biography

Rebecca Tingey focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and arbitration and represents domestic and international clients from various industries, including aviation and airline, insurance, finance, and manufacturing. She counsels and defends airlines, airport operators and developers, and component part manufacturers in state and federal courts. Ms. Tingey's commercial litigation experience includes representing corporate entities and individuals in matters involving business torts and breach of contract, employment disputes, and shareholder disputes. Ms. Tingey also has experience litigating securities fraud and consumer fraud class actions.

  • Representation of domestic and international airlines and airport operators, and their insurers, in complex tort matters in New York state and federal courts
  • Representation of component part manufacturer in litigation arising from airplane crash; motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction granted
  • Defense of Latvian company and individual in declaratory judgment action concerning the acquisition of a Latvian bank undergoing privatization; trial court’s denial of motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction reversed by the First Department
  • Defense of a bank against claims for breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, promissory estoppel, fraudulent inducement, and violations of General Business Law Section 349; motion to dismiss granted
  • Defense of Chinese company in dispute involving "take or pay" polysilicon contracts
  • Defense of Chinese company in dispute involving construction of geothermal power plant
  • Defense of government contractor in defamation action; motion to dismiss granted
